1965 Ford Mustang Fastback - SOLD
This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was refurbished and modified c.2015 at Unlimited Motorsports in Connecticut. Work involved a repaint in black, retrimming the interior, chassis modifications, and installing a 347ci stroker V8 linked to an AOD four-speed automatic with a manual valve body and an 8.8” rear end with a limited-slip differential. The car sold on BaT in November 2020 and subsequently was brought to Canada, where a GT350H-style hood, gold stripes, and badging were added at Summit Ford of Rexdale, Ontario. Under previous ownership, a Holley Sniper electronic fuel-injection system was added along with 17” alloy wheels, Hella H4 headlights, and a Bluetooth-capable sound system. The car rides on a modified suspension with tubular front control arms, a four-link rear setup, QA1 adjustable coilovers, power rack-and-pinion steering, and Wilwood discs, while the interior features Vintage Air climate control, power windows, a B&M shifter, and AutoMeter gauges.
The body is claimed to have been media-blasted and repaired under prior ownership before it was repainted black. A replacement hood with an air scoop and exposed locks was installed at Summit Ford, and painted over-the-top gold stripes were added along with GT350 badging. Hella H4 headlights and LED bulbs were also fitted under current ownership, and other details include a honeycomb grille, bullet-style mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets that pass through the rear valance.
Scott Drake 17” wheels and Firestone Firehawk Indy 900 tires were mounted in 2021.
The front suspension has been modified with a tubular K-member and A-arms in addition to a sway bar and rack-and-pinion steering with adjustable power assistance. The rear end has a triangulated four-link setup. QA1 adjustable coilovers have been fitted at all four corners along with Wilwood disc brakes. The wheel bearings were adjusted in 2026.
The cabin features front bucket seats, a divided rear bench, and door panels trimmed in black vinyl. Vintage Air climate control system, power windows, and a B&M shifter topped with a T-handle grip have been added. A Bluetooth-capable head unit was installed under current ownership along with Custom Autosound kick-panel speakers and Pioneer units in the cargo area. A Carroll Shelby signature adorns the glove compartment lid, and GT350-branded embroidered floor mats line the footwell. Dynamat sound-deadening was applied to the floor in 2022.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and sits ahead of AutoMeter instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 8,200 miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.
The 347ci stroker V8 crate engine was installed in 2015, and a Holley Sniper EFI system was added in 2021 along with a Cobra-branded air cleaner and valve covers sourced from Scott Drake. A Derale two-speed electric fan and an aluminum shroud were also added to cool the existing Northern Aluminum radiator. The previous owner reported that a new fuel tank, Holley fuel pump, fuel regulator, and oxygen sensors were installed in 2023. An Optima Red Top battery is mounted in the trunk, which is lined with an embroidered mat.
The AOD four-speed automatic transmission has been modified with a manual valve body and a 2,000-rpm stall torque converter. Long-tube exhaust headers flow into a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and a MagnaFlow mufflers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an aluminum driveshaft and an 8.8” rear end with a limited-slip differential.
