1993 Autozam AZ-1

This 1993 Autozam AZ-1 is one of approximately 150 Mazdaspeed units built, and this example was acquired by the current owner and imported from Japan to the US in 2025. Now showing 3,600 kilometers (~2,200 miles), the car is finished in Classic Red over black and red cloth. Power is provided by a turbocharged 657cc inline-three paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and equipment includes a Mazdaspeed body kit, a full glass canopy, straked radiator inlets, Mazdaspeed-branded exhaust tips, disc brakes, front and rear suspension braces, aftermarket 13″ alloy wheels, air conditioning, crank windows, and a Kenwood CD stereo. This AZ-1 Mazdaspeed is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in California with a Washington title.

The AZ-1 was built by Mazda and distributed via its Japanese-market Autozam dealership channel between 1992 and 1994, and it features plastic composite body panels with gullwing doors. This example is finished in Classic Red (SU), and exterior equipment includes a full glass canopy, straked radiator inlets, Mazdaspeed-branded exhaust tips, and a Mazdaspeed body kit including a revised hood, a front air dam, and a rear wing.

Aftermarket 13″ alloy wheels are wrapped in 155/65 Dunlop Enasave EC202 tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent suspension, and it is equipped with strut tower braces at both ends. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner.

The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in black and red cloth. Appointments include air conditioning, crank windows, and a Kenwood CD stereo.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts white-dial instrumentation comprising a 140-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 9k-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 3,600 kilometers (~2,200 miles), approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.

The mid-mounted turbocharged 657cc Suzuki F6A inline-three produced 64 horsepower and 63 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle.
