390 FE-Powered 1949 Lincoln 9EL Club Coupe 5-Speed - SOLD

This 1949 Lincoln 9EL Club Coupe was refurbished in the early 2000s by a prior owner, who entered it in the 2006 La Carrera Panamericana endurance race. In 2009, a 390ci FE V8 with 406 cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and a Holley carburetor was installed, and the transmission was replaced with a Tremec TKX five-speed manual around a decade later. Supporting modifications include a Dynatrac 9” rear end, a Detroit Truetrac differential, an ATL fuel cell, MSD ignition components, Bassett Racing 15” wheels, AFCO dampers, and Wilwood disc brakes. The cabin has been outfitted with a roll cage, a MOMO steering wheel, racing seats, a fire-suppression system, and a JVC CD head unit.

The car was refinished in maroon during the initial refurbishment, and it was repainted in the current white and blue livery within the last two decades. A cowl-mounted spotlight has been added along with a tie-down on the hood and a fuel filler below the rear window.

Various Lincoln racing achievements between 1949 and 1954 are listed on the doors.

Bassett Racing 15” wheels are wrapped in Avon CR6-ZZ tires. AFCO dampers have been installed, and braking is handled by Wilwood discs with Superlite six-piston calipers up front, Dynapro four-piston units out back, and BP-20 pads all around.

The cabin is protected by a roll cage with door bars and houses Sparco and Cobra racing seats with Simpson harnesses. A fire-suppression system, an aluminum battery box, bead-rolled bulkhead panels, and a JVC CD head unit mounted between the seats have been added.

A Tilton 600-series pedal assembly has been added along with a MOMO California steering wheel. Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an ATL fuel level indicator, and a Summit 10k-rpm tachometer with inset auxiliary gauges, while an AutoMeter temperature gauge is mounted below the matte-black dashboard.

The 390ci FE V8 was built using 406 cylinder heads, Harland Sharp roller rockers, and ARP hardware. A Holley 1850 600cfm carburetor is mounted to an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and an MSD ignition module, coil, and distributor have been installed. The dual exhaust system has a crossover pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers.

An ATL fuel cell is mounted in the trunk.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission and a Dynatrac 9” rear end with a Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differential and 4.11:1 gearing.
